Privacy Policy
Your privacy is non-negotiable. HTMLPicker collects zero user data.
TL;DR
HTMLPicker does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any user data. All processing happens entirely within your browser. There are no servers, no databases, no analytics, no tracking — zero.
Data Collection
HTMLPicker does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Page content or DOM data
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Device information or fingerprints
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
- Location data
There are no exceptions to this rule. This is not a "we collect data but promise not to misuse it" policy — we simply do not collect data at all.
How HTMLPicker Works
HTMLPicker operates entirely within your browser:
- Element inspection — CSS, HTML, colors, and fonts are extracted locally using browser APIs. No data leaves your machine.
- Screenshots — Captured using the browser's built-in
captureVisibleTabAPI. Images stay in your browser's local storage. - Design tokens — Generated locally from extracted CSS values. No server processing involved.
- AI prompts — Generated locally by default. If you configure an AI provider (BYOK), prompts are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you chose. HTMLPicker never sees your API keys or prompts.
AI Provider Integration (Optional)
HTMLPicker offers optional AI-powered design analysis. This feature is off by default and requires you to explicitly configure an API key.
- API keys are stored locally in your browser's sync storage.
- AI requests are sent directly from your browser to the provider you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, or compatible).
- HTMLPicker does not proxy, log, or intercept these requests.
- You can disable AI features at any time in settings.
Local Storage
HTMLPicker uses chrome.storage to save your preferences locally:
- Sync storage — Settings, preferences, and AI configuration (if enabled).
- Local storage — Screenshot cache and modification records.
- Session storage — Temporary element info (cleared when browser closes).
All stored data remains on your device. You can clear it at any time from the extension's settings page.
Third-Party Services
HTMLPicker does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services within the extension. The extension has no external dependencies.
Children's Privacy
HTMLPicker does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, our extension is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. If we ever change our data practices (which we have no plans to do), we will clearly communicate those changes.
